The wonderful Char Barossa is looking for a Sous chef to start ASAP.

Fantastic owners, remuneration and set working days (WEDNESDAY- SUNDAY EXCEPT PUBLIC HOLDAY MONDAYS)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Prepare and cook food according to the menu (correctly garnished, portioned & presented on the correct serving dish) and individual customer dietary requirements, ensuring requests are met accurately.

· Ensure all dishes are presented consistently to the highest standards.

· Mise en place for your section and support as required for other sections

· Assist the Head Chef in supervising and training cooks and junior staff to maintain quality and efficiency.

· Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop recipes, plan menus and encourage the creativity of junior chefs.

· Work cohesively with the team on the front line during busy service periods and communicate effectively to ensure high levels of kitchen team performance.

· Communicate efficiently with the restaurant manager & front of house team to deliver the best possible customer service.

· Liaising with suppliers and ensuring deliveries are checked against the order for the correct quantity, consistent quality & safe storage of food.

· Monitoring of food stock & assisting with stocktakes.

· Inspect supplies, equipment and work areas for cleanliness and functionality.

· Ensure compliance with all hygiene, occupational, health & safety regulations within the kitchen area. All our kitchen team are expected to lead by example and actively participate in cleaning tasks.

· Actively participate in team meetings/briefings.

· Ensure our team values are built on respect, professionalism, collaboration and a genuine commitment to supporting one another.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

· Hold a Certificate 3 in commercial cookery

· At least 2 years of relevant experience in a senior kitchen position

· The ability to produce a high volume of dishes in a timely manner, at the set standard

· Comes to work as per the roster, is punctual and sets a good example of character and ethic

· Demonstrate a passion for food and local produce

· Reliable and capable of working calmly and efficiently during busy service periods.

· Communicates openly, constructively and respectfully with the entire team.

· Holds yourself and others to high standards of workplace conduct, creating a safe, respectful and accountable environment.
